Delhi Metro signs MoU with BEML for Bahrain Metro project
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), based in India, has successfully secured a contract for the development of Section 1 of the Bahrain Metro, which includes the construction of a 30 km network comprising 20 stations. It has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with BEML to produce and supply the rolling stock for the project. The DMRC will contribute its expertise in project development, budget preparation and contract management. In addition, the DMRC is actively seeking bids for other international metro projects in countries such as Israel, Egypt, Vietnam and Mauritius. It is also involved in the Dhaka Metro project in Bangladesh. Last year, Bharat Electronics (BEL) signed an MOU with the DMRC to develop a train control system based on indigenous communication (i-CBTC), enabling unmanned operations of metros and trains.
