The National Agency for the Study and Monitoring of Railway Investment Projects in Algeria, Anesrif, has announced a call for tenders for the study of the development of a 1,200 km high-speed line with a maximum speed of 350 km/h. This planned line would cross the Tunisian border in the east and the Moroccan border in the west, and is a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and transport efficiency in the region.

Algeria is making significant progress in infrastructure development in 2025, focusing on energy, transport and water security to stimulate national growth and modernisation.
The country has allocated more than 800 billion Algerian dinars in recent years and is launching more than 500 infrastructure projects between 2025 and 2026 as part of a broader digital transformation strategy. These projects aim to diversify the economy, increase energy production and improve public service delivery. Key projects include the South-West Gas Field Development Project, the SoutH2 green sulphur pipeline, the northern railway network, the Bled El-Habda integrated phosphate project, and an enhanced desalination programme.
