Delivery of Velaro high-speed trains
Egypt is to take delivery of its first Velaro high-speed electric train in August, a big step forward for the country's high-speed rail project. Recently, Kamel Al-Wazir, the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, checked on the progress along the Ain Sokhna–Alamein–Marsa Matrouh route. This section is part of the first 660-kilometer part of a planned 2,000-kilometer network. During the visit, he inspected road links, station setups, maintenance centers, and other infrastructure work. The high-speed rail system is designed to link different cities, industries, farms, and tourist spots across Egypt, fostering economic growth and the creation of job opportunities.
